GS Tracer — DaVinci Resolve Fusion HUD Tracking Plugin
GPU-Accelerated Blob Detection & HUD Overlay for DaVinci Resolve
GS Tracer is a GPU-accelerated blob-detection and HUD-overlay plugin for DaVinci Resolve's Fusion page, built by God_Send MixedMedia LLC. It automatically detects bright or color-matched regions in any clip, then draws fully customizable bounding shapes, center markers, connection lines, and live data readouts directly on your footage — in real time, entirely on the GPU. No manual keyframing required.
Whether you're building sci-fi tracking interfaces, sports broadcast graphics, surveillance-style callouts, or AI-aesthetic overlays, GS Tracer does the heavy lifting for you.
Key Features
🔲 7 Bounding-Box Styles
Full Box · Corner Brackets · Dashed Box · Circle · Triangle · Dashed Circle · Dashed Triangle — each with independent color, thickness, and padding controls.
🎯 Two Detection Modes
- Luma Range — detect bright highlights or dark regions by luminance threshold
- Target Colour — lock on to any RGB color with adjustable tolerance
📍 Center Markers
Choose from cross, dot, or diamond markers. Color, size, and thickness are fully independent from the box style.
🔗 Connection Lines Between Blobs
Automatically draw lines linking detected blobs using nearest-neighbor, K-nearest, or fully-connected topology. Supports straight and curved lines.
📊 Live Data Readout
Display blob count, coordinates, or frame numbers directly on the clip. Fully styled text with size, spacing, color, and position offset controls.
✨ Glow / Bloom Overlay
Add a per-element glow effect on every detected blob — threshold, size, and strength all adjustable, with the option to match the element's own color.
🔁 Invert Image Inside Shape
Invert the image within any selected bounding shape — circle-aware, triangle-aware, and rectangle-aware. The invert region always matches your chosen box style exactly.
🔍 Zoom In-Box
Magnify the detected region inside its own bounding shape for a loupe or callout effect. Scale is fully adjustable.
🎬 Output Modes
Overlay on source · HUD-only (transparent background) · Alpha matte — seamlessly switchable without changing your node tree.
🔄 Cycle Mode
Animate which blobs are visible over time, with control over how many appear at once and how many frames each holds before cycling.
Edit Page & Fusion Page Support
GS Tracer ships with both an Edit-page and a Fusion-page install so you can use it wherever you work in DaVinci Resolve.
- Fusion page (.fuse): Full node with every parameter available in the Inspector. Drag the Lua installer into Fusion, click Install, restart Resolve. Find the node under Add Tool › God_Send MixedMedia › GS Tracer.
- Edit page (.drfx): Double-click to install. All controls — Detection, Boxes, Markers, Connections, Readout, Glow, Output — appear in organized collapsible groups in the Inspector panel. No Fusion page required.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does GS Tracer work on the Edit page without going to the Fusion page?
Yes. Install the included .drfx file and GS Tracer appears in the Effects panel. All controls — detection sensitivity, box style, markers, connections, glow, and output mode — are available directly in the Inspector. No Fusion page required.
Does GS Tracer require DaVinci Resolve Studio?
No. GS Tracer is fully compatible with the free version of DaVinci Resolve. Studio is not required.
How many objects can GS Tracer track simultaneously?
GS Tracer detects up to 32 blobs per frame simultaneously and can draw HUD elements on all of them at once, or animate through them using Cycle Mode.
Is GS Tracer GPU-accelerated?
Yes. The entire detection and rendering pipeline runs on the GPU through Fusion's FUSE compute system (GLSL-based). No CPU fallback required.
What operating systems are supported?
Windows, macOS, and Linux — wherever DaVinci Resolve 17 or later runs.
Can I use GS Tracer for commercial projects?
Yes. A single-user license covers personal and commercial use.
